WHERE TO EAT
Fondue and Raclette – delicious classic Swiss dishes which are a ‘must’ to sample on a visit to Switzerland. Enjoying piping hot melted cheese, washed down with a local wine is a treat that comes with enjoyment of a ski holiday. Verbier has a lot more to offer than just Cheese. There is a huge international selection of cuisine on offer. Traditional Swiss, rich French classics, Japanese, Mexican, Italian… the list goes on. Here are a few of our favourites…
Vieux Verbier
One of the few restaurants in Verbier not affiliated with any hotel, the Old Verbier is on a hillside a few paces from the town’s ski slopes. It’s set in a building that functions as the nerve center for the surrounding hillside cable cars. Its decor features brightly polished brassware, ceiling beams, and stone. The kitchen defines its cuisine as bonne cuisine bourgeoise, which is rich, traditional, and filling, exemplified by such featured dishes as La Potence — a grilled steak flambéed at your table with a red-wine sauce. Grilled fish and roasted rack of lamb are among the more delectable items to order.
