Zermatt Snow Reports

Our team of ski instructors post regular snow reports for Zermatt. Here are the latest:

After a freezing start to the week we had a much warmer day of sunshine today and it looks as though this warmer weather is here to stay. Temperatures are set to increase slightly over the rest of the week which should include a few blue bird days! Due to strong winds some of the lifts on the Klein Matterhorn side of the resort have been closed but hopefully they will re-open again soon so we can take full advantage of the clouds clearing leaving the Matterhorn in full view once again!

After an extremely chilly week Zermatt feels a bit warmer today and it looks like the sun might be here to stay for a couple of days taking us into half term next week. The wind picked up a bit this morning blowing loose powder through town but as it has died down this afternoon inviting the crowds to enjoy a bit of après ski in the sun. Do not forget your sun cream during this sunny spell, while the breeze may make you feel the chill, the sun is strong and a burnt schnoz is just not the look this season!

The snow clouds are back! The snow depth at the top of the mountain has now reached 170cm and there has been a light frosting in town. After the extremely busy Christmas and New Year period and before half term begins next week the slopes are much quieter which combined with the new snow and sunshine creates perfect conditions for a great day skiing! The temperature is set to drop to an incredible -31 degrees on Thursday night so it looks as though these conditions are here to stay! We are not expecting too much wind this week but make sure you layer up and don’t forget your neck warmer as we have all certainly been feeling the cold! Even during the off peak weeks in Zermatt our instructors are still hard at work and this past week has been no exception. The team have been taking full advantage of the amazing conditions in resort and have been busy training almost every day, brushing up their skills in preparation for the rush of half term in a couple of weeks! Make sure you keep your eyes out for our instructor training over the next few weeks, with everyone pushing their skills to the limit it is an impressive sight to see!

This season ES will be based in Tipee Sports right next to the Sunnegga lift in the center of Zermatt ! Our sales point within the shop is under construction, Tipee Sprots is a small ski shop/kiosk providing everything you need to get out on the slopes.  It was also a bit of an ES gathering in Zermatt this week, staff from Verbier and Zermatt get a chance to ski together on some pretty awsome snow which fell down to about 2700m.[gallery link="file" order="DESC" columns="4" orderby="ID"]
